JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a seasoned and diligent Staffing Manager who will provide guidance and assistance to individuals seeking employment, matching job seekers with available opportunities based on education, expertise, and skills. The Staffing Manager will also identify contemporaneous and prospective openings, interview suitably qualified applicants, and ultimately, extend job offers to the strongest candidates. They will also contribute directly to the company's business development efforts and should embody a "can do" attitude that is critical to success.

To be successful as a Staffing Manager, you should be personable with a flair for negotiating and decision-making. Ultimately, a top-notch Staffing Manager will devise strategies to build capacity in exceptional candidates who lack a few of the preferred skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Manages collection and review of associate timesheets.
  • Handles payroll revision and approval to ensure the timely and accurate payment for all associates

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaches candidates for interviews and entry into the workforce including providing background information regarding potential employers and the specific job.
  • Collaborates with business leaders to identify job openings and to promote the benefit of job training and placement services.
  • Consults with clients and employers after interviews to gather feedback and maximize placement opportunities. 
  • Develops and maintains a list of available positions in the immediate and surrounding geographic area, and remote or otherwise reasonably accessible opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to identify job openings and to secure employment and proper vocational training opportunities for clients.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, labor market conditions, and competitor activities. Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in staffing practices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients to understand their staffing needs and requirements.
  • Negotiate salary, benefits, and other terms of employment with candidates on behalf of clients. Present job offers and coordinate acceptance and onboarding processes.
  • Develops and maintains records of training, placements, and interview results; uses this data to continually modify and improve the placement service.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with business leaders and community clients, gathering feedback to learn how job placement services can meet needs.
  • Evaluates and understands each client's background, skills, and interests.
  • · Following a placement, gathers feedback from the jobseeker and the employer to assess the employee's success in the role, the fit of the placement, and whether the parties are satisfied with the placement service.
  • Increases contacts in the community through active participation in various associations.
  • Matches potential job openings or training programs with clients. Meets with job seekers including students, recent graduates, unemployed, under-employed, and currently employed individuals to understand interests, skills, abilities, and education.
  • Presents the work of the placement agency to civic groups and writes articles about the role of the agency in job development for local media.
  • Reviews reputable websites, local newspapers, and statewide business papers to identify new employers entering the area.
  • Schedules and tracks the results of interviews and responds to each associate as required.
  • Identify business opportunities within the city and surrounding areas to support business development.
  • When appropriate, recommends additional education and skill training opportunities to reach higher career goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Basic understanding of vocational assessment and counseling techniques.

· Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software needed to maintain records and prepare reports.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify strengths and weaknesses.

· Thorough knowledge of federal and state HR related laws and regulations affecting talent acquisition.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred.

· At least one year of experience in similar career counseling preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

COMPENSATION:

· Compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience.
